The Government of Uruguay expressed its "concern" at the escalation of the conflict in Artsakh

28.9.20

The Government of Uruguay issued a statement in which it expressed its "concern at this new escalation that puts stability in the area at risk, and conveys its solidarity with the victims and victims caused by these actions."

“In this regard, Uruguay joins the call of multiple actors in the international community for an effective and immediate ceasefire between both parties, which stops the deepening of the dispute that separates them, and allows the regeneration of the space for dialogue and negotiation, an indispensable condition for a peaceful solution to the conflict, within the framework of international law, the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the initiatives promoted by the Minsk Group,” the Government said in a statement.

The undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health of Uruguay, José Luis Satdjian, gave a message from his social networks: “We express concern about the new attack by Azerbaijan supported by Turkey in the Nagorno-Karabakh area. Escalating violence is never the way. We join the call for a ceasefire and peaceful resolution of the conflict”.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Forum in Uruguay issued a statement in which it expressed its "condemnation of this attack that deepens an escalation of aggressions that has intensified in recent times", as well as its support “for the calls that have been made for an immediate ceasefire and for a return to dialogue between the parties within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group”, and to “the sovereign rights of the Republic of Artsakh”.
